Meet Ellen

Ellen is named after "elenchus," the Socratic method of learning through dialogue. She isn't an AI model — she's a harness built around leading models that makes them work the way great instructors do: figure out what you already understand before explaining, give hints before answers, refuse to just agree when your reasoning is wrong, and adjust the difficulty as you go.

What Ellen remembers

Ellen keeps a running estimate of your ability in each skill area, updated every time you work together, and she pays attention to how you're doing overall — a student running on four hours of sleep needs different coaching. All of it carries across every conversation.

What she won't do

Write your essay — or the outline. She'll coach you through every step, question by question, and give honest feedback on the drafts you produce. You stay the author.

Checking her work

When Ellen draws on a textbook or one of your documents, she cites it — and the citation opens the actual passage. If something looks off, tell us with the in-app feedback button.
